Spruce Creek Trails Assoc., Inc.
September/October Edition
October 1, 2005

October 1, 2005

It is finally the time of year we horsey people have been waiting for. The weather has cooled somewhat, the leaves are turning, and we can do our favorite thing, saddle up and ride the trails.

The traffic in Spruce Creek has definitely picked up.

Trails Committee
Now that the weather has finally gotten cooler, the flies have dimenished somewhat and the snakes are mostly gone, the trails committee is back in action.

Once again, they have done an outstanding job of maintaining our trails. On September 23, they put in 2 culverts, put down fabric, and rocked the low spot in front of Lot 104 on Spruce Creek Drive. This will keep you off the blacktop in wet weather.

They also fixed the creek area on the Spruce Creek Trail going to the Cumberland Valley Trailhead. This is probably the most beautiful spot on this trail and now it is safe as well.

Plans are already in the works to fix fill the holes on the Crocket Creek trail, and fix the washed out place next to Ricky Rains property.

When you are riding and notice an unsafe place on our trails, please advise one of the Board of Directors. The contact information is available at the end of this newsletter and also on the web Site.

When you ride the trails and pick up trash , PLEASE make a note of the date and time, and email the information to Sue Duncan at Big South Fork. Sue is in charge of the volunteers and needs this information in her log. Her e-mail address is Sue_Duncan@nps.gov.

Comments:
Hey ladies, the Spruce Creek ladies have started an all-girls ride every Friday. It is open to any lady that wants to ride. If you are going to be in this area, give me a call or e-mail and I will let you know where and what time we leave. The first ride was deemed an all-out success, we had 16 riders and no one complained about the trails, heat, horses, husbands or anything. We just enjoyed being with our comrades.

For the first ride we rode the Evergreen trail and it was so pretty.
