NO BOARD MEETING JUNE 30

NEXT WORK  DAY is Saturday, July 14, 7 A.M. at the Pavilion

Troxell – Wood Trailhead Update

The ground for the trailhead was donated by Jack and Inez Troxell and Estel and Nancy Wood.  The trailhead is on Oby Blevins Road and has been leveled and graveled.  People are now parking in it.  The fence and sign should be up shortly.

The trail crew at Big South Fork have done a great job improving the trail up Yellowface and down Salt Pine.  This trail is now a pleasure to ride. If you haven’t ridden it be sure to go through the wooden arches just past the Barna Farm and up the Yellowface trail and return on Salt Pine.  The ride is about three hours in length and is very pretty.  There are a couple of streams to water your horses before the Yellowface climb.

June 2 – National Trails Day

Twelve people participated in this project with Big South Fork and cleared and trimmed the Sawtooth Trail and the Hicks Ridge (Wildcat Den) Trail.

Participating were: Larry Willenborg, Roy Sillman, Bonnie Glasser, Ken Pasternack, Shelba & Wendell Hicks, Linda & Ron Brinkerhoff, Tom Pickard, Donna & Mike Smith, and Shawn Larsen.  Park employees were Walt Singleton and Bill Beaty.

June 16 - Trail Work Day

Thirteen hard workers made improvements on the Evergreen Trail during this work day.  They were:

Janet & Michael Schwartz, Tom Pickard, Ned & Leslie Helm, Ivan Whitehead, Mary Maney, Michael Smith, Brian Machette, Bonnie Glasser, Ken Pasternack, Roy Sillman, David Allen and Ricky Rains.  Lunch was served at the Pavilion by Jim & Brenda Hyde and Joyce Pickard.  Janet & Michael live south of Jamestown and have enjoyed riding the trails so much that they volunteered for this work detail.  Thanks Janet & Michael.
