BOARD MINUTES

SPRUCE CREEK TRAILS ASSOCIATION, INC.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Directors

Date: June 24, 2006

Members Absent –              Mike Smith, Dorothy Holder and Don Mitchell

 Call To Order :                    The meeting was called to order by  Vice President, Tom Pickard                              

 Minutes:                                Michelle Fleenor made the motion to accept the May 27th 2006 minutes, seconded by Brenda Hyde.  They were made a part of the corporate records.

Treasurer’s Report            The Treasurer’s Report was given, Brenda Lawson made the motion  to accept, seconded by Brenda Hyde.    It was approved and made a part of the corporate records.

  COMMITTEE  REPORTS:

 

Insurance:            There was no report.    The Tennessee Equine Liability signs have been posted and the Liability Waiver will be delivered to the businesses affected.

               

Trail:                     National Trails Day was discussed.  There were 26 members of  Spruce Creek that worked on 4 trails, cleaning, putting in water bars, and putting up signs.  Seven members attended a meeting at Zenith Stables on May 23rd.  Big South Fork personnel, Wally Linder and Sue Duncan told about the new blazing system for the park and also told about the work that needed to be done.  He also indicated any tools that was needed for trail work in the future will be available from the park.

 

                                Tom Pickard will order 2 of the grub hoes from the Forestry Supplies to have on hand for future trail work.

Public Liaison:     Brenda Lawson was appointed by the Board to be the liaison person for 2006-2007

Fund Raising:      No report                              

Information:         The newsletter will be sent via mail, e-mail and website. 

Old Business:                 The trail deeds were discussed.  Tom Jancek is working with Robert Livingston and Michelle Fleenor is working with Ricky Rains.  After some discussion on the trail conditions, Ruth Watson made the motion to accept any trail, in any condition at the time it is deeded.  Brenda Lawson seconded.  The motion was approved unanimously.  The thought was the Trails Association could fix any trail.    Both Developers have been very fair with the association in hiring dozers, or whatever is needed to fix trails.

                                                Ken Pasternack submitted the trail map for Spruce Creek.  After some discussion it was decided to place the maps in a water proof container at the Pavilion and make it available free.  It will also be posted to the website.  A sign will be posted at the old office site telling people the maps are available at the pavilion.

New Business:               Status of trails deeded to SCTA

After some discussion on the trail conditions,  Ruth Watson made the motion to accept any trail, in any condition at the time it is deeded.  Brenda Lawson seconded.  The motion was approved unanimously.  The thought was the Trails Association could fix any trail.    Both Developers have been very fair with the association in hiring dozers, or whatever is needed to fix trails.

 

The Board will ask Tom Jancek to have Robert Livingston clarify  the 3 connector trails in Spruce Creek.  It was the understanding of some members they could be used for 4 wheelers. 

Lynn Delk has started to electrical and plumbing in the bathrooms.  The pile of dirt located on the east end of the pavilion yard will be moved as soon as the siding is put on. 

 Ruth Watson asked the board for permission to purchase a blower for the pavilion.  She has been borrowing or asking someone to blow off the floor before a potluck.

 The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
